From Whitby take the A174 follow the coast road and continue through the villages of Sandsend, Lythe and Hinderwell. As you enter the Staithes you will pass a Co-Op on the right. Shortly after this, you will see a right-hand turn into Staithes village. Follow the signs to the old village.
From Guisborough take the A171 towards Whitby; turn left into Grinkle Lane and continue along this road until you reach the village of Easington. At the T junction turn right onto the A174 and continue along this road, past Boulby Mine on the right. At the top of the hill turn left into Staithes village and follow the signs to the old village.
From Redcar take the A174 Loftus/Whitby road and continue through Carlin How, Loftus and Easington. Pass Boulby Mine on the right, and at the top of the hill turn left into Staithes village and follow the signs to the old village.
Ravenscraig House is located on the High Street at the bottom of the hill, opposite the Betsy & Bo sweet shop and deli. There is a parking bay immediately outside the house, where you can park your car to unload.
As with most cottages in the village, Ravenscraig House doesn’t have parking, however it does have a bonus of having a loading bay directly outside the property, which can be used when loading and unloading luggage.
I prefer to park at the Cowbar Car Park at the Cowbar side of the village, which although small, it free year-round and you can easily access the cottage via the Cowbar road into the village and cross over the bridge, which brings you straight to the back of the cottage.
If you prefer to park in the High Street side of the village, there is a choice of three car parks. Credit card/debit card payments are available, and generally you can pay for up to 7 days at once.
If you wish to pay cash, please remember to bring enough coins. Parking is free of charge between 1st Nov and 28th February at the Scarborough Council Bank Top Car park and between 6pm-9am from 1st March to 31st October. Daytime charges between 1st March and 31st October are £6, but these tickets are transferable to other Council operated car parks between Filey and Staithes.
Additional parking is available at the privately-owned car park adjacent to the council car park at Staithes Bank Top, but please note that there is a charge year-round. Glen Vale Car Park is another privately owned car park, at the top of the hill, but is a slightly shorter walk than the rest. Further details can be found on Bank Top Car Park and Parking Staithes.
