Ravenscraig House is located in the centre of Staithes Old Village.
How do I find Ravencraig House?
Ravenscraig House is located on the High Street in Staithes, at the bottom of the hill, opposite Betsy & Bo chocolate shop.
Do you do short break stays?
Yes, we do in low & mid-season, which are generally 3 nights minimum stays. In high season we generally ask for 7 days min stay.
Do you accept dogs?
Yes, we allow up to two well behaved dog for a small charge of £20 per stay.
Is the cottage family friendly?
Yes, we have lots of indoor space, an outside patio area and a selection of board games. A high chair is also available for guests. Two of the bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a travel cot, should you wish to bring one, but please remember to bring any bedding required for a travel cot. All first and second floor windows have child safety locks. Children must not be left unattended on the decked terrace.
Is there a beach in Staithes?
Yes, there is a small beach and harbour at Staithes, both are just a few minutes’ walk from Ravenscraig House. The cottage has stunning views of the beck at the back of the property, which joins the sea.
Is there anywhere where we can eat in Staithes?
Staithes has three excellent pubs that provide delicious locally sourced food all within a few minutes’ walk of the cottage. Please note most stop serving food at 8.30pm.
In addition to the pubs, there is a selection of cafes that are open daily.
Is there an ATM in the village?
There is an ATM at the Co-op just outside the entrance to the Old Village, which offers free cash withdrawals.
What time can we arrive and what time do we need to leave?
Check-in time is 4pm and on the day of arrival and we ask that you leave your holiday home no later than 10am on the day of your departure as our cleaners will arrive promptly to prepare for our next guests.
What facilities are provided in the cottage?
The cottage is well equipped with central heating, TV, DVD, music system, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, microwave, large range oven and hob, electric kettle and toaster, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, a selection of family games, high chair and travel cot.
What is included in our stay?
Bathroom towels, all bed linen, electricity, tea towels, dish clothes, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, liquid hand soap, hair dryer, toilet roll, kitchen roll, coffee, tea and sugar. Please bring beach towels if you plan to relax on the beach.
Is WiFi available in the cottage?
Yes free WIFI is available
Are travel cots and high chairs available?
One high chair is available free of charge. We do not have a travel cot, but there is plenty of space in two of the bedrooms at the house to fit a travel cot.
Do we have to pay extra for heating and electricity?
No, all utilities are included.
Does the property have a telephone?
No, the cottage does not have a telephone and you should be aware that, mobile phone network signal in the village is very poor. If you have a Wi-Fi calling facility on your phone and with your network provider, calls can be made and received using this functionality.
Can we smoke in the cottage?
Sorry the cottage is strictly non-smoking.
Is there a BBQ?
There currently isn’t a BBQ but we are happy for you to bring a disposable tray BBQ.
Do we need to clean the property on departure?
We ask all guests to leave the property as clean and tidy as possible on departure. Please ensure that the dishwasher is emptied, all pots and pans have been cleaned and put away, food removed from the fridge/freezer and any rubbish put in the external bins.
Is there parking at the Cottage?
The cottage doesn’t have any parking, however there is a loading bay directly outside to the cottage which can be used when loading and unloading your bags.
I prefer to park at the Cowbar Car Park at the Cowbar side of the village, which although small, it free year-round and you can easily access the cottage via the Cowbar road into the village and cross over the bridge, which brings you straight to the back of the cottage.
If you prefer to park in the High Street side of the village, there is a choice of three car parks.
Credit card/debit card payments are available, and generally you can pay for up to 7 days at once. If you wish to pay cash, please remember to bring enough coins.
Parking is free of charge between 1st Nov and 28th February at the Scarborough Council Bank Top Car park and between 6pm-9am from 1st March to 31st October. Daytime charges between 1st March and 31st October are £6, but these tickets are transferable to other Council operated car parks between Filey and Staithes.
Additional parking is available at the privately-owned car park adjacent to the council car park at Staithes Bank Top, but please note that there is a charge year-round.
Glen Vale Car Park is another privately owned car park, at the top of the hill, but is a slightly shorter walk than the rest.

Where is the nearest train station?
The nearest main train stations to Staithes are Whitby (approx. 10 miles) and Saltburn by the Sea (approx. 9 miles). Regular buses operate from both towns to Staithes.
Can we access the property to unload our car before parking?
Yes there is a loading bay immediately outside the property.
What deposit is required and when do we pay the balance?
We request a 50% deposit at the time of booking and that the balance is paid, together with a £200 refundable security deposit is due 15 days before the arrival date.
